Since attending the National Institutes of Health Medical Scientist Training Program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Mark Speaker, M.D., Ph.D. has made significant contributions in the safety and efficacy of eye surgery techniques. He has been actively involved in basic and clinical research in the areas of LASIK Surgery, Cataract Surgery and Lens Implants, Corneal Surgery and Transplants and Ocular Surface Disease such as Dry Eye. In addition to his research activities, Dr. Speaker has been instrumental in the education of eye surgeons, serving as the Director of Resident Training at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan. Further, Dr. Speaker served as the Director of a post-residency Fellowship training program at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Cornea and Refractive Surgery, such as LASIK Eye Surgery, that has produced 15 Fellowship certified Corneal and Refractive surgeons. Mark Speaker, M.D., Ph.D. has received the Honor Award and the Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his contributions to education at the Annual meetings of the Academy, and has served as Program Chairman for the International Society of Refractive Surgery. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Cornea Society and the Program Committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Speaker served as the Director of the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Service at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary for five years and established the New York Eye and Ear Laser Vision Correction Center. As Vice-Chairman, Mark Speaker, M.D. assisted in the development 20/20 Laser Centers, which operated a Laser Center for Vision Correction in New York City and was the predecessor of TLC Laser Eye Centers Manhattan. Dr. Speaker’s private practice, Laser and Corneal Surgery Associates, is located in the Galleria Building at 115 East 57th Street between Lexington and Park Avenues in Manhattan, N.Y.C. and in Westchester at 220 Westchester Avenue West in White Plains, N.Y. He practices with Drs. Jodi Abramson and Dana Morschauser. Dr. Speaker and his colleagues at Laser and Corneal Surgery Associates are leaders in the fields of Laser Vision Correction, Corneal Transplantation, Dry Eye, Infections of the Eye, and Cataract Surgery. Their dedication and work has resulted in numerous publications in these areas, helping to define and broaden the knowledge available to Ophthalmologists throughout the world.
